The seed from which Avalon & Company grew was a single image from a COPS-style TV show featuring skip tracers and bounty hunters: A petite blonde woman in a long dark trenchcoat, expertly brandishing a gun, with a massive linebacker of an sidekick at her elbow. This, I said, is a character that needs creation.

I initially developed Rennie Avalon as the protagonist of a comic book series, but did so right when the comics industry was going through one of its constant cycles of reshuffling and downsizing. She kicked around in the back of my mind for a while, until I got the notion to try a web serial. The current series takes my original concept, merged with some other half-baked ideas also kicking around in the comic book drawer, and cannibalizes an aborted screenplay for the initial plot.
